Task 4 - Find Your Own Material, Part 2

Part 1-
Awkward is when someone does not feel comfortable around somebody and does something that makes the person or people around him or her feel very weird and creped out. What I like about this theme is that during an awkward situation everything is funny because the person does an action or says something weird. I also like this theme because as I scroll down my Facebook news feed I see awkward pictures, for example, of someone very random photo bombing a picture of someone I know, or some awkward text between a friend and their mum or dad. I can relate to this topic because awkward situations occur in my daily life a lot, sometimes when someone asks me a question I don’t feel comfortable to answer, for example if a teacher asks “Are you dating this guy?” Sometimes, we say awkward things that are wrong but we did not mean to say it that way.

Part 2-

This is an awkward text between a mum and her daughter. She means to send a text to her dad but accidently send it to her daughter. This happens to me as well, I mistakenly send a text that was supposed to be sent to my friend to my mum and with friends we’re different than we are with out parents that’s why it’s awkward.

This happens quiet often, a person is waving and we think they’re waving at us but they’re waving at someone behind us. This is a really awkward moments because the person waving and waved at knows about the moment but also the group of people you’re standing with.

This is also a very common awkward moment. When we meet a person after a long time we don’t know if we should hug them or give them a handshake It’s really awkward because we’re just like “What just happened?” and want to giggle but that makes everything more awkward.

Task 3 - Find Your Own Material

Task 3 - Find Your Own Material

       1) 9GAG

                    https://www.facebook.com/9gag

9GAG is a website where there are very funny memes. They find funny things on the Internet and add their own text. 9GAG has an app, a website and also a Facebook page. Their Facebook page has 11 million views.

Some examples of the memes from 9GAG are,

2) Kick Ass Vines

Kick ass vines is a Facebook page that takes videos from vines and posts it on this Facebook page. The page has 3.7 millions views. There are many vines pages but this is just one of them. The page consists of very funny of people acting out things that happen in our regular life, for example "When your crush texts you first" or really extreme things like dancing at a mall or doing crazy stunts.

3) Desperately Seeking Dhaka

Link- https://www.facebook.com/groups/DSDhk/?fref=nf

DSD is a group on Facebook 20,555 members. In the group you can ask about anything and people suggest where you can get it or give you advice. There are many posts that ask for relationship help, some are asking for advice how they can kick their mother in law out of the house and etc.

From all these 3 blogs I would chose Desperately Seeking Dhaka, because this is something many of the ISD students could interact to and also it would be something very different. I would use the post as the main concept and story and the comments as what people say. I would get 5 characters for the comments, but as there are many comments some of them could be joined.

Task 2- Review a sketch

Task 2 - Review a Sketch

Part 1-
This Blogolgue was a sketch called “Queen of New York”. It’s a sketch of an article from the newspaper and some tweets that they are portraying to the audience. The material is from Times and also reads one tweet related to “Queen of New York”.
Part 2-
This performance had a total of 5 people, however, at the beginning there was only one person, she gives her statement and leaves and then a boy joins and then another girl comes in and more people come in and they sing things together. The way they move off and on the stage is very smooth and also how the move across the stage, as well
Part 3-
I enjoyed their extreme expressions and how the were engaging with the audience, however, I think they should give an introduction of what they will talking about as it gets really confusing and sometime it’s not easy to find their tittles on the internet.
Part 4-
I think the reviews were valid, however on their YouTube channel there weren’t a lot of their performances and different various types. It took me a long time to chose one and I didn’t willingly feel to watch any.

Task 1- Introduction to Blogologues

Blogologue part 1-
Blogologues are a theatrical group that performs sketch comedies of blog posts. They read out things that are usually not read out loud but are read my online users. “Blogologues is a curated, thematic internet extravaganza that gives voice to those texts from last night, what’s overheard in New York, and your missed connections.” (Lively Productions) This entire project assembled during April of 2011. They had their first show in May of 2011. In May 2013 they had a big jump in their project, which was when Guardian hired Blogogues.

Most of their sketches come from what happens on the Internet. Every now and then on the Internet we see new things, such as “Memes”, “Twerking”, “Selfies” and etc. The Blogologues sketches all the things that we see on the Internet onto their stage and they present it to the audience. It is very interesting because what we see on the Internet and read on the internet cant always be portrayed, however this theatrical group makes it possible.

The process of Blogologues-
  1. 1.     To find out the new “thing” on the Internet.
  2. 2.     Ask for permission, before using.
  3. 3.     Plan a sketch to perform to the audience. For example, reading a stupid tweet, acting out a vine and etc.
  4. 4.     Perform it to the audience.

Teens really enjoy this concept because of how interested we are in these new trends that we go trough. Critics find it extremely funny and love seeing people do it again other than the time they have seen it already. Blogologue uses these things that are already there but make it more amusing and better.
